Aphasia Camp: Adventure Weekend Application

What: Aphasia Network's Aphasia Camp Northwest: Adventure Weekend. This is a volunteer and educational opportunity working on supported communication, life skills development, and leisure exploration in an interprofessional setting with potential for working with OT, Psychology, PT, Social Work, and other students, faculty and staff. The Visiting Scholars Program is part of our mission to raise aphasia awareness and help expose and train future practitioners to better communicate with the aphasia community in their geographic areas. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to serve the community and gain exposure to the aphasia population and provide valuable experience for you resume and graduate school application. 

When: On-Site Training - 6pm Thursday, August 22nd; Camp Friday, August 23rd - Sunday, August 25th 12pm.

Location: Camp MaGruder - 17450 Old Pacific HWY, Rockaway Beach, OR 97136 on the beautiful Oregon Coast.

Who: Graduate students presently enrolled in an SLP, PT or OT program and/or post-baccalaureate or undergraduate students interested in the field of speech pathology, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy students. Application and a brief interview required prior to acceptance into the program.

Supervision and Hours: Students will be supervised by licensed professionals in their disciplines. Clinical and/or observation hours can be considered on a  case-by-case basis for students. Students are required to complete on-line training modules prior to camp and a pre- and post-camp survey. Course credit ma be available through your respective professional school and university.

Fee: $175 - Includes lodging in dorm-type lodges (or your-tent camping is available and meals
